Why Not You?

As a business consultant and coach, I truly enjoy helping to dramatically help a business. Increasing their net profits, their sustainability, and security with simple, strategic approaches.

But some business owners are not willing to open their minds and change their ways. They have one way of thinking about their business and stick to comfortable old habits. Their businesses, unfortunately, eventually become stagnant.

These days, if your business isn’t growing, it’s going backwards. In case you haven’t noticed, prices of everything are increasing. Labor, materials, delivery options, professional services…you name it. That means your bottom-line is suffering. Your revenue might be the same. But…you’re taking home less.

Back in the late 80’s and early 90’s, with my first business of fitness training, there were many peers of mine who, after several years, were still rather desperately needing next week’s client’s money to pay last month’s mortgage, because they couldn’t or wouldn’t break free of a certain mental thought process.

They insisted on doing what ‘everyone else in the industry’ was doing. So, they were all similar. Similar ads, slogans, messaging, etc. They all were mostly becoming a commodity.

Once I learned to think strategically and learned how to leverage my efforts, I leap-frogged over everyone. I worked less, had more free time to work ON my business, and lived very comfortably.

All because I learned to market differently. I saw that industry’s thought process and had a somewhat ‘smaller’ mindset about the business. I created a better message and better ways to get that message out.

When I went into the tanning salon business, I did the same thing. We used out-of-the-box thinking to market and we were booked most all year long. While other tanning salons were often empty. They mostly stuck to their old habits.

In each of the 5 business I ran, and the ones I operate today, I do the same thing. I go through my marketing checklist to see what the ‘best and free’ options are first. What marketing strategy can I use that no one else is?

When you get your marketing right, it’s like shooting fish in a barrel. You almost can’t miss!

Every business, profession, field has this. It’s a dangerous thing. You may have heard me say this before because it’s the truth. No matter what business you’re in, you’re also a marketing company.

Whether you’re an auto mechanic, a florist, a restaurant owner or an interior designer Whether you’re a professional, own a retail operation, a home-services business…your business is no different.

You don’t have to stay boxed-in to ‘your industry’s’ way of thinking. There are several powerful strategies they’re not using that YOU could and should be.

Once you are willing to explore these, you’ll immediately see opportunities where you never saw them before. Typically, it’s what I cover in my first conversation or meeting with a business owner.

It’s incredibly eye-opening and understandably creates a new level of passion and excitement in them. Why not you?
